℞: retrograde. Rahu and Ketu always move backwards. The bar shows how far each planet has travelled through its sign. Times are India Standard Time; positions update every hour.
A transit, or gochar, is the movement of the planets through the zodiac right now. Vedic astrology reads it against your own birth chart, mainly from your Moon sign: the house a planet is passing through, counted from your Moon, shows the area of life it is stirring. That is how the daily horoscope is put together.
The sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa, the one used in Vedic astrology and Indian panchangs. Western (tropical) astrology places every planet about 24° further on, so the signs often differ.
Seen from the Earth, a planet sometimes appears to move backwards for a few weeks or months. In Vedic astrology a retrograde planet is read as turned inward: its matters are revisited rather than pushed forward.
They are not planets but the two points where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's. These points slide backwards through the zodiac, taking about 18 years for a full round, so they always stand exactly opposite each other.
Count from your Moon sign to the sign a planet is in: that house shows the area it is touching for you. Your daily horoscope does this for each of the twelve signs.
