What is a nakshatra?
The Moon goes round the zodiac in about 27⅓ days, so the sky was divided into 27 parts of 13°20′, one for each day of its journey. Each nakshatra has four padas (quarters) of 3°20′, and nine padas make one rashi. Your birth nakshatra is the one the Moon was in when you were born; it sets your first dasha, the sounds for your name, and much of Kundli matching. Find yours with the Moon sign & nakshatra calculator, and names for it in baby names by nakshatra.
