Get up before sunrise on 8 May 2027 and look east. The brightest "star" low over the horizon will be Venus, and the fainter golden point almost touching it will be Saturn. The two planets pass just 0.6° apart, closer than the width of your little finger held at arm's length. It is the closest Venus–Saturn meeting of 2027, and it happens at a special point of the zodiac for Vedic astrology.
Here is when and how to see it from India, what the conjunction means in Jyotish, and what else the May 2027 sky has to offer.
When to see the Venus–Saturn conjunction
| Closest approach | 8 May 2027 (early morning, India time) |
| Separation | about 0.6° |
| Where | low in the east, before sunrise |
| Best time | about 45–60 minutes before sunrise |
| Good nights | 5–11 May, as the two planets are close for several days |
Venus is about 26° west of the Sun, so it rises roughly an hour and a half before dawn. Find a spot with a clear eastern horizon, free of buildings and trees. Venus is unmistakable, far brighter than anything else in that part of the sky. Saturn sits right beside it and is much fainter, so binoculars help, especially as the sky brightens.
Dates from NavAstro's own engine. We calculated the conjunction with the same NASA JPL ephemeris our charts use, and checked it against published astronomy calendars, which also give 0.6° on 7–8 May (depending on time zone).
Bonus: the crescent Moon joins in on 4 May
On the morning of 4 May, a very thin waning crescent Moon sits within about 10° of Venus and Saturn, low in the dawn sky. It is a beautiful trio if your eastern horizon is clear, and a good warm-up for the main event four days later.
What Venus–Saturn conjunction (Shukra–Shani yuti) means in Vedic astrology
In the sidereal zodiac used by Vedic astrology, the conjunction falls at 26.8° Pisces (Meen). That is remarkable: Pisces is Venus's sign of exaltation, and 27° Pisces is its point of deepest exaltation. So on 8 May Venus is at practically its strongest classical position, joined by Saturn, which is in Pisces until 2 June 2027.
Venus and Saturn are natural friends in Jyotish. Together they are read as:
- Love with commitment: Venus brings attraction and harmony; Saturn brings seriousness and staying power. The yuti favours lasting relationships over passing ones.
- Beauty through discipline: art, music, design and craft that need patience and practice.
- Steady money: careful, long-term finance rather than quick gains.
A transit conjunction like this shapes the general mood for a few days. It affects you most if it falls on a sensitive point of your own chart: your Moon sign, Lagna, or the 7th house. Check where Pisces falls in your chart with a free Kundli.
Venus changes sign on 10 May
Venus leaves Pisces and moves into Aries (Mesh) around 10 May 2027, so the exaltation lasts only a few more days after the conjunction. In Aries, Venus is more direct and impulsive in love. It moves on into Taurus, its own sign, around 4 June.

| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 4 May | Crescent Moon near Venus and Saturn (dawn, east) |
| 6 May | New Moon (Amavasya), in sidereal Aries |
| 8 May | Venus–Saturn conjunction, 0.6° apart (dawn, east) |
| ~10 May | Venus enters sidereal Aries |

| 20 May | Full Moon (Purnima), in sidereal Scorpio |
Jupiter and Mars in the evening: both are well placed after sunset all month, Jupiter bright in Cancer, its sign of exaltation, and reddish Mars in Leo. On the evening of 12 May the crescent Moon sits just west of Jupiter, and on the evening of 13 May it has moved on to sit close to Mars. Both are easy naked-eye sights.
Mercury climbs slowly into the evening twilight late in the month, low in the west after sunset.
What this means for your chart
Planetary meetings are the same for everyone, but their effect depends on your own chart and the dasha you are running. Venus is the main significator of marriage, so the Venus–Saturn yuti is especially worth watching if you are in a Venus or Saturn period.
